An event is one item written
A message counts 1 whatever its length, up to 64 KB. A document counts 1 for each 2,000 characters, so a 9,000-character contract is 5 events.
A retrieval is one search. Everything that reads by address, and every erasure, is free.

Going over a limit never loses what your users said. Writes still land and stay searchable; only the paid reading waits, and catches up when the month turns or the plan changes.
A missed write cannot be recovered later. A delayed read can.

- What is an event?
- One item written. A message, note or activity counts 1 whatever its length, up to 64 KB. A document counts 1 for each 2,000 characters, because it is read whole.
- Does a long message cost more?
- No. A message counts 1 whether it is ten words or ten pages, up to 64 KB. Only documents are counted by length.
- What is never metered?
- Reads by address (read, ls, grep, around, latest, overview), history, versions, lineage, status, forget, correct and export. Erasing your users' data is never something you pay for.
- What happens at the limit?
- Nothing is dropped. Writes still land and stay searchable; reading them into dated facts waits. Past the retrieval limit, search answers with the unfiltered ranking, which costs nothing to compute.
- Is retrieval quality different by plan?
- No. Every plan runs the same engine with the same model calls. Plans differ by volume, operations and governance, never by how well memory answers.
- Can I pay today?
- Not yet. Checkout is not live, so every account starts on Free and no card is taken. Paid plans open with checkout.
- How does this compare with Mem0?
- Mem0's Starter and Pro carry the same quotas, 50,000 adds and 5,000 retrievals, and 500,000 and 50,000, at $19 and $249 a month (mem0.ai/pricing, read 2026-10-09).
- Is there a cap on spend?
- Yes. Each organisation has a daily cap on what memory may spend on model calls. Past it, nothing is refused: reading waits, and search answers with the free ranking.
